FSC

What is the FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) was founded in 1993 in the wake of the Rio summit on sustainable development. The FSC is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization working to promote the environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically viable utilization of the earth's forests. The organization receives global support from environmental protection organizations, labor unions, groups representing the interests of indigenous peoples, and from a large number of companies in the forestry and timber industries. The FSC is open to anyone with an interest in what happens to the forests on our planet.

What are the FSC's objectives?

The primary aim of the FSC is to develop standards for the responsible management of forests. The long-term hope is that forests will continue to serve future generations by providing the same ecological, economic and social benefits that they do today. The FSC sees itself as a platform for bringing together people with diverse forest-related interests so that they can reach a consensus on responsible forestry. The FSC seal represents an important tool in the marketing of products made in compliance with the agreed standards.

For the FSC, success will come when people around the globe recognize the ecological, social and economical significance of forests and commit themselves to preserving this capital for future generations. Achieving these goals will require that responsible actors in the forestry sector recognize the principles of the FSC and implement them in their work.

ROBETA HOLZ OHG is committed to the key mission of the FSC. In April 2008, we received the FSC chain of custody certificate for softwood round timber, engineering timber and sawn timber (material status: FSC Mixed).
